Up Close and Personal

This bison "invaded" our picnic one evening - we just let him walk right on through. No messing with a beast like that!! :)

These three pictures were taken within 5 seconds of each other, as Old Faithful began to erupt...

I really like the deep, rich colors that came through in this photograph. It is absolutely untouched.

A Gorgeous Fall Day

No, it's not breath-taking, but it was a very pretty day (especially for Kansas)...
...and besides I'm running low on photo fodder right now. :) Bear with me and I'll try to have something worth the name of "photography" up pretty soon. :)

*whooooosh!* The metro train has arrived!!

French Country Club

Not the most spectacular picture, composition-wise; that's for sure! But this was a very beautiful place... this building used to belong to one of (the king of France) Louis XIV's farmers. It is now in use as a country club. Gorgeous!!

Romance

Velvet petals...

(Yes, I know it's not sharply in focus, but I think that adds to the mystery of it. ;))

August Lightning

After quite a few very hot days without rain, we were blessed with a thunderstorm night before last. This was my most successful picture of the evening.

Sunset over Chicago

I took this from the Sears Tower on June 22... we were fortunate to reach the top of the tower in time for a gorgeous sunset!

Post Card Perfect

Never knew Kansas could look so pretty! This shot at Jeffrey Energy Center reminded me of a post card you might see in a store.

Little Flower

Just refreshing this blog here. :) I don't know what these little flowers are called, but they sure are pretty.
Picture taken April 13 of this year.

Springtime!

Yikes! It's been a long time since I posted... sorry about that! Life becomes torrential sometimes. ;)

Springtime has arrived here in NE Kansas and I'm enjoying every bit of it!! :D ...this picture is of apple blossoms. It brings to mind the song, "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White."

Dancing Shoes

I'm not sure who took this, but I got it from Dave's camera... I thought it was a neat shot. Very symbolic of the square dance that was Friday night (when the photo was taken). :)

1500 Hits!

Thanks to all you faithful visitors, this blog has reached the "1500" mark.
1500 visits in 7 months... *shrugs* ...could be better, but I'm not complainin'! :D Thanks very much, everyone who visits!! And especial thanks to those who leave comments! ;) It's nice to get feedback... or at least know that people really are looking at the pictures. :) I know they're not professional quality, but it's just a hobby and this is my outlet. So thanks for all your support!!

Kansas Prairies

I took this picture from the car on my way from Manhattan to St. Mary's. It has been enhanced (the colors are a bit more saturated than the original). The white "clouds" on the horizon against the darker blue/grey/purple clouds are actually steam from Jeffrey Energy Center.

My gorgeous Valentine gift!!! They're sooo beautiful!!!

Angles Are My Friend :D

This picture kind of makes it look like the subject is jumping out of the tree or even just dropping down from the sky... :) ...thanks to the up angle of the camera. Pretty cool, methinks. :D (The picture below hasn't been messed with one whit. :))

Morning Star

Nothing too exciting here. Sadly, the picture came out a bit blurry. I only took three and this is the crispest of the lot. :( That's because it was a one-second shutter, without a tripod... Nonetheless, I thought it was really pretty how evenly and gradually the color of the sky changed... and how the last star could be seen gleaming just before sunrise. I took the picture about 6:50 am.

This one is also from this past Saturday night...

Full Moon

For a long time, I've wanted to take some time-exposures up at the Jesuit cemetery... last night, with a full moon out, I had the opportunity. :) This (having a 6.32 second exposure time) is one of the better pictures that came out~ I cropped the picture and straightened it a bit but didn't mess with the saturation or anything.

Wishful Thinking!

We've had so much warm weather around here lately that Spring won't be a novelty at all when it arrives! The plants are probably all confused. ;) This picture is from December 8, feast of the Immaculate Conception... oh, for more snow! :D

Lights at Top Speed!

These were Christmas lights strung through the trees along the sidewalk... the picture was taken from a moving car with a 0.25 s shutter.

100 Posts!!

100 posts and 1200+ hits!! :D Thank you all so much for supporting my photographic efforts. :) It's a lot of fun, but I do appreciate the encouraging comments and all those of you who are willing to be victims of my experiments and fits of the shutter bug (thank you to my family members!). :D
